The TAPCON 230 Expert electronics device is designed for control system protocols including IEC 60870-5-101, IEC 60870-5-103, MODBUS ASCII, MODBUS RTU, and DNP3.0. This unit features 1-phase voltage and current measurement, a graphic display, LEDs for freely selectable functions, and plug-in terminals for cable connections. Control functions include Raise/Lower operation, Auto/Manual operation, Local/Remote pushbuttons, 3 setpoint selections, linear or integral control algorithms, and a NORM set for simplified commissioning. Additional functions comprise integrated monitoring, undervoltage and overcurrent blocking, fast reverse switching during overvoltage, voltage drop compensation via Line Drop Compensation (LDC) and Z-compensation, programmable inputs and outputs, and a display for measured values including U, I, S, P, Q, cos phi, and f. Extended functions support parallel operation for up to six transformers using the Master/Follower method and circulating reactive current minimization, supplemented by CAN-bus parallel operation and BCD tap position detection. The unit operates on a supply voltage of 88 - 265 V AC/DC and utilizes an RS232/RS485 physical serial interface with the IEC 60870-5-101 interface protocol. An auxiliary power supply is suitable for powering binary inputs at 60V DC and 15VA. Included documentation features one instruction manual in English for the transformer manufacturer and two instruction manuals in English for the transformer operator. Accessories consist of a mounting kit for panel or surface mounting, a documentation folder, a door key, a cover strip with a hexagon socket, and a USB to RS232 visualization converter.
